Who are we?

The African Youth with Disabilities Network (AYWDN) was founded in 2011 to unite Africa's diverse Youth Disability groups, their families, friends and supporters. Youth Disability groups include those with Physical Disabilities, Sensory Disabilities, Intellectual Disabilities, Psychosocial Disabilities and Developmental Disabilities. The role of the Network is to be a continental and effective voice for change - culturally, economically, politically and socially through supporting the implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN CRPD) and influencing regional policies to address the challenges faced by Youth with Disabilities.
